A cruisy afternoon in the forest photographing the gal behind Petals and Pine weaving her magic. One-woman-show; macrame weaver and floral forager. Another beautiful artist local Tamborine Mountain.
Who are you and what do you do?
I'm Sarah; the owner of Petals and Pine based out of Mount Tamborine. I specialize in florals and macrame weavings for weddings and all events.
What inspired you to start your business / how did it all begin?
I've always had a love/obsession for botanicals. Theres such a romance that flowers and plants have to offer and I wanted to capture that and share that with as many people as I could. The macrame weaving came from my passion for texture. I'm always using my hands and i just fell in love with the craft. I loved the combination of the two and decided why not pair them up?!
How long have you had your business?
About a year and a half now. Its just a baby and its still got of growing to do!
Growing up, what did you aspire to be?
I actually wanted to be a theatre actress. I did theatre all through high school and just loved becoming different characters and dressing up; transforming. I always knew i wanted to do something in the creative field, my vision has morphed so many times throughout the years. I guess its landed in flowers/weaving for the meantime...
What is your favourite thing about your business?
Definitely being out in nature. I forage a lot for flowers and also do a lot of my weavings outside. All of my work is inspired by nature. The landscape in particular is such inspiration in my macrame work. Manipulating fiber to emulate the land is such a joy for me. My fiber art is such a expression for my love for the land.
How would you describe your products to someone who has never seen them?
Honest, Wild, Romantic, Eclectic, Lush, Bold.
